Therapeutic Art in the Tampa Bay Area

Create Wildly

Creative expressions can lower stress and anxiety and increase relaxation, clarity, and inspiration.

While art can definitely be used to explore mental health, the act of creating can also be its own form of therapy. My mission is to help people learn these practices and skills, so the tools to create a better life are within their reach.

When you think about true beauty in nature, it’s often untamed and flourishes “outside the lines,” especially the one we try to create for it.

From a simple forest to a weed bursting through the concrete, there’s no definition to where a wildflower might grow.

about

Explore Art as a Journey, Not a Destination

My name is Kaley Ransbottom, and I’m an art therapist based in the Tampa Bay Area. My passion for not only artistic practice, but the way that creating art can transform a person, is what drove me to start Wildflower Creative.

As a licensed and vetted art therapist, I have gained the knowledge and understand the nuances of choosing the best materials and practices for each person or group. Each practice is developed with intentionality, and will open the mind of a different demographic.

“I want to empower my clients to understand, and accept, that art isn’t about the end result. It’s about the journey in creating; or, the act of creating itself.”

Don’t like to paint? No problem. Hate drawing? I totally get it.

At Wildflower, the point isn’t to learn how to do art… When we, as individuals, can USE artistic methods to heal ourselves and others, what could be more beautiful? While working together, the creative process is valued over the end product.

There will be no interpretation or diagnosis during our creative session. This is not a mental health therapy session; this an opportunity to allow space for healing through art.

Group Therapeutic art

This is my most popular service; I generally recommend a group of six to ten people, but I can accommodate larger groups. We can do collaborative or individual art pieces, using a myriad of materials. Spending time together in a creative space helps to instill trust, inspiration, and motivation over top the other therapeutic benefits of individually creating. This is great for team bonding, retreats, bridal showers, after school programs…just about anywhere!

If you would like to participate in an art practice individually, that is indeed a possibility. While there are great benefits to doing this with a group, I totally recognize that isn’t possible for everyone, and isn’t preferable for everyone.

I can present the services I provide in an open house environment, using example practices to showcase the possibilities of art as therapy. This service is great for community events, conferences, and special events where vendors are welcome.

My sessions are goal oriented and support the pursuit of a healthier mental outlook. Through the art therapy process, we focus on communication, self-expression, social and emotional well-being. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. These services could be compared to a more traditional individual therapy session. While we do not accept insurance, we are a Step-Up for Students provider.

End of life services are difficult to comprehend until the moment arrives, these services are useful for anticipatory grief, at home or in hospice, in preparation for loss. It’s also very difficult to think about what you or your family will find to be a meaningful keepsake in the future to remember a loved one.

I offer a number of creative practices that can be completed by an individual or family and act as a testimonial to your family member. These practices offer time and space to process grief, and provide a special keepsake to remember the loved one forever.

If you’re hoping to offer therapeutic options in your organization, but don’t know where to start, please start by reaching out and setting up a consultation. It can be on site or digital. By learning about your organizational structure and your vision, I can help create a plan to integrate creative practices into your tapestry.

Some have called this creating together while apart, but I’ve found it’s so much more than that. I can use a variety of mediums to meet an individual or group (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Meetup, etc.) and can conduct workshops/activities with participants anywhere in the world.

This service is great for teams that are spread across the country, or perhaps for clients that are unable to travel or are prevented by circumstances from having visitors. Even though we won’t be in the same physical space, clients gravitate toward this service.
